President Droupadi Murmu’s arrival in Rairangpur of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district has been delayed due to adverse weather conditions. The President, who was scheduled to land at Dandbose Airstrip this afternoon to begin a two-day visit to her home state, is now travelling by road from Kalaikunda Airbase in neighbouring West Bengal. Official sources said unfavourable weather conditions necessitated a change in the travel plans of the President. The President’s convoy is proceeding to Rairangpur via Bangiriposhi and Bishoi, and she is expected to reach the town later this evening.

Elaborate security and administrative arrangements have been made along the route and at all programme venues. During her visit, President Murmu will inaugurate several public welfare and infrastructure projects, including a medical camp organised by AIIMS Bhubaneswar, a mega rural piped water supply project, Matrushakti Bhawan of the Brahma Kumaris, a special circuit house and the newly created Rairangpur Police District. Tomorrow, the President will celebrate her 68th birthday in her native region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also scheduled to join her in Rairangpur at a major public function marking the completion of two years of the Odisha Government
