UPSC Chairman Dr Ajay Kumar has said that India stands on the cusp of AI takeover. Dr Kumar was speaking at the 127th Foundation Day of Hindu College of Delhi University today. He outlined that when everything comes easily, it is tempting to just sink into comfort.
The UPSC Chairman said AI can crunch the numbers, but it can’t come up with human questions and the answers to which will shape the future. Dr Kumar said the future won’t be shaped by how easy life becomes but by what you choose to do with that ease. He remarked that the generation has developed the skill of separating sense from noise. Dr Kumar said mastering the skill of filtering senses from noise is extremely important.
He remarked that disinformation in the age of AI exists and is dangerous. He reiterated the thought, ‘If something makes you feel instantly wise, it may be doing the thinking for you.’ The Chairman said that power is going to come not just from consuming information, but from thinking through it, questioning it, and recognising what truly matters. He added, this will enable one to thrive in the world of AI and endless noise.
Hindu College, under the University of Delhi, was founded in 1899. The idea of the college was born from the Indian movement for independence, which has grown in strength since its foundation.
