Census 2027 will start from 1st April

Census 2027 will start on the 1st of next month. Census 2027 will be the 16th Census in the series and the 8th since Independence. Addressing a press conference today, Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India, Mritunjay Kumar Narayan, informed that the House listing operations will be done in a 30-day period between 1st April and 30th September this year by the states and Union Territories.

He added that the Self Enumeration facility has been provided in Census 2027, and it can be done in a 15-day time period, just before the House listing operations of 30 days begin. Mr Narayan shared that the self-enumeration portal will be available in 16 languages. He further informed that the questions for the first phase have already been notified, and the questions for the second phase will be published in due course. He noted that the caste enumeration will be done in the second phase of the Census.
